Hi Everyone,
Evelyn here,
I went and saw Beowulf today, and I enjoy it greatly. I saw a brief part of it in its IMAX format. Iwas thoroughly over whelmed by the actors and scenery jump out from the screen. This is a new and brilliant technology, but I finished watching to film in it standard format. It will take some time before I can watch IMAX films and truly enjoy them.
After the film I had this portrait done of me. The likeness is close enough but truly the artist was kind.

Hello Everyone,
Evelyn here,
Last December, and in true Disney tradition, we were introduced to a new film adaptation of C. S Lewis’ book The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, which is the story of four lonely children (the Pevensie) evacuated to the British countryside during the Blitz. Once in Narnia, the children find a wardrobe that leads them to the fantasy world of Narnia, where they meet and befriend a bewitched faun and the majestic lion Aslan. Joining the group, they fight an epic battle against the White Witch and her evil minions.
When the film opened in theaters, it was an instant hit with children and adults alike, and with the use of today’s computer animation, Walt Disney Pictures was able to make the creatures of Narnia appear almost real. In the wake of the first film’s success, Disney is bringing us another film, which is based on the second book in the Chronicles of Narnia series, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian .
--------------------------
Due out in theaters on May 16, 2008, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian , the second film adaptation from in the book series will find the children magically transported back to Narnia some 1300 years in its future. There the children learn that nothing is the same in Narnia and that an evil King Miraz has usurped the rightful throne of Prince Caspian, who is in exile. After discovering the truth, the Pevensie’s children soon join forces with the young prince and a host of magical beings they meet alone the way to win back the throne for its rightful heir and to save Narnia.
Cast: Damián Alcázar, Alicia Borrachero, Peter Dinklage, Georgie Henley, William Moseley, Shane Rangi, Simon Andreu, Sergio Castellitto, Pierfrancesco Favino, Cornell John, Liam Neeson , Ben Barnes, Warwick Davis, Vincent Grass, Skandar Keynes, and Anna Popplewell

Hello,
Evelyn here,
I nearly missed a film that I believe will make musical history if not for its storyline than for the its musical score, which will send those of us who were coming to age in the mid 60s and early 70s on a trip down memory lane. This Friday, Sony Pictures and Revolution Studios' movie Across the Universe will open nationwide.
Across the Universe is a musical love story set to music of recording artists from the 60s. It is about of two star-crossed lovers, who struggle not to be torn apart by the social turbulent of their time. Of the music, the most noticeable group are the Beatles. The movie begins with the country in the midst of the Vietnam years, and at a time of anti-war protects, mini shirts, tall boots, free love, pot, and psychedelic drugs that appears to flow much too freely.
The 60s were also the time when the phrase, “mandatory draft” had developed a negative connotation, and when the hottest shows on television were American Bandstand, Star Trek, Ed Sullivan and a wild and wacky little band called, The Monkees. It was an anti-culture generations where to your utter dismays you discovered that you and your psychiatric shared the psychoanalyst.
It was the 60s and we loved it.
Though not religious in origin Across the Universe brings to mind such classic musicals as the off-Broadway, Godspel (later a movie), and Jesus Christ Superstar. Tommy and Hair appears to echo in there also. Cast includes Evan Rachel Wood, and Jim Sturgess. In theaters: Friday, September 14, 2007. Check out the website there are some great music samples from the soundtrack posted.
Evelyn saying, “Good Night.”
Hello Everyone,
Evelyn here,
with more movie news. It looks as if the Sci-Fi and fantasy genres are going to have a very exciting year in 2008. Two of those films will assurely be of interest to us kids of all ages.
The first film, The Hobbit, will reunite us with some of our favorite characters from the Lord of The Rings trilogy. Except this time, we are taken back to the beginning on Middle-Earth years. See post below.
----------
08.25.07 - To date New Line Cinema and director Peter Jackson are doing some serious negotiations about the production a film version of J. R. R. Tolkien's novel, The Hobbit. As for prequels, they are sometimes good and sometimes bad. They generally smack of some films makers attempt at soaking moviegoers out of more cash regardless of the film’s artistic quality.
However, with a film like The Hobbit, which i
As with The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Hobbit, which is said the follow the wild and dangerous adventures of a young Bilbo Baggins and the wizard Gandalf the Grey ( it is rumored be Sir Ian McKellen will revived his role) across an untamed Middle Earth. The quest – to help a band of dwarves reclaim their mountain and their gold from as evil red dragon named Smaug. As Bilbo journeys on his quest, he learned his strengths and weaknesses when he encountered goblins, trolls, and giant spiders. He will also find himself in the midst of the legendary and historic ‘Battle of the Five Armies’, and as predicted, Bilbo will have his encounter with the already ancient and mad malformed creature, Gollum and his prize possession, the magical ring of The Dark Lord, Sauron.
If New Line cannot win over Peter Jackson (there was lawsuit over Jackson’s share of the profits from The Lordof the Rings trilogy), there is a strong possibility that director Sam Raimi will do the film. Raimi was co-director of the USA Studios fantasy series, Hercules the Legendary journeys and Xena Warrior Princess. The Hobbit.
The second film, The Golden Compass, based on the novel His Dark Materials by the English author, Philip Pullman is also part of a trilogy. See the post below.

Hello Everyone,
Evelyn here,
Below is the "The Last Legion"entry from the homepage. I posted a extended review of "The Golden Compass there.
-----------
08.11.07 - Can we ever get enough of the variations on a story about an orphaned boy turned king by an aging mentor and/or wizard. Apparently not, because on August 17, 2007 MGM and director Doug Lefler (DRAGONHEART: A NEW BEGINNING) will be releasing THE LAST LEGION. Like the 2004 movie release of KING ARTHUR, starring Clive Owens, THE LAST LEGION, is based on the little known myth that Arthur’s legend might center on a roman general named Arturus. However, for this production, the boy is named Romulus Augustus and he is the last emperor of Rome.
The story begins near the end of a crumbling Roman Empire and is about the dangers and adventures of a 12-year-old boy named Romulus Augustus. After escaping from his capturers on the island of Capri, Romulus journeys to
Britannia in search of ‘Excaliburnus” the legendary sword ofJulius Caesar. To win back his throne he must also seek the aid of the last Roman legion – the fabled Dragon Legion, and to finally meet his destiny as the last emperor of Rome and the king of the legends.
Cast: James Cosmo, Harry Van Gorkum as Vortgyn, Kevin McKidd as Wulfila, Thomas Sangster as Romulus, Colin Firth as Aurelius, John Hannah as Nestor, Peter Mullan as Odoacer, Iain Glen as Orestes, and Ben Kingsley as Ambrosinus.

Hello Everyone,
Evelyn here,
with news about the return of anothers old comic classic, Voltron: Defender of the Universe. 20th century Fox and New Regency Productions will be filming this classic cartoon as a 2008 release.
----------
08.11.07 – There is another favorite comic book coming to the big screen and that is Voltron: Defender of the Universe. 20th century Fox and their New Regency production company have contracted with producer Mark Gordon to do for Voltron what DreamWorks and director Michael Bay did for their recent of the Transformers.
Some might still remember that Voltron made its original television debut in 1960 and ran until 1968. Comprised of five different lion’s heads that come together to battle with evil galactic beings, this enduring Saturday morning superhero can easily be thought of as the prototype the present day Transformers. Yet, unlike the Transformers, Voltron needs to be manned by human beings. There are five space explorers to pilot each lion head, and as a group they are called the Galaxy Alliance Pilots.
The leader of the group is Keith, who helmed the Black Lion and directed the formation of Voltron. The sassy and sometimes sarcastic Lance pilots the Red Lion. The beautiful Princess Allura pilots the Blue Lion. The tough guy of the pack is Hunk, ho pilots the Yellow Lion, and finally the Green Lion is piloted by Pidge, the remarkably agile geek of the pack. When the lions combine, they form the massive sword-wielding robot Voltron. More om this at a later date.
