08.11.07 - Can we ever get enough of the variations on a story about an orphaned boy turned king by an aging mentor and/or wizard. Apparently not, because on August 17, 2007 MGM and director Doug Lefler (DRAGONHEART: A NEW BEGINNING) will be releasing  THE LAST LEGION. Like the 2004 movie release of KING ARTHUR, starring Clive Owens, THE LAST LEGION, is based on the little known myth that Arthur’s legend might center on a roman general named Arturus. However, for this production, the boy is named Romulus Augustus and he is the last emperor of Rome.

The story begins near the end of a crumbling Roman Empire and is about the dangers and adventures of a 12-year-old boy named Romulus Augustus. After escaping from his capturers on the island of Capri, Romulus journeys to
Britannia in search of ‘Excaliburnus” the legendary sword ofJulius Caesar. To win back his throne he must also seek the aid of the last Roman legion – the fabled Dragon Legion, and to finally meet his destiny as the last emperor of Rome and the king of the legends.

Cast: James Cosmo, Harry Van Gorkum as Vortgyn, Kevin McKidd as Wulfila, Thomas Sangster as Romulus, Colin Firth as Aurelius, John Hannah as Nestor, Peter Mullan as Odoacer, Iain Glen as Orestes, and Ben Kingsley as Ambrosinus.

Voltron: Defender of the Universe

with news about the return of anothers old comic classic, Voltron: Defender of the Universe. 20th century Fox and New Regency Productions will be filming this classic cartoon as a 2008 release.

08.11.07 – There is another favorite comic book coming to the big screen and that is Voltron: Defender of the Universe. 20th century Fox and their New Regency production company have contracted with producer Mark Gordon to do for Voltron what DreamWorks and director Michael Bay did for their recent of the Transformers.

Some might still remember that Voltron made its original television debut in 1960 and ran until 1968. Comprised of five different lion’s heads that come together to battle with evil galactic beings, this enduring Saturday morning superhero can easily be thought of as the prototype the present day Transformers. Yet, unlike the Transformers, Voltron needs to be manned by human beings. There are five space explorers to pilot each lion head, and as a group they are called the Galaxy Alliance Pilots.

The leader of the group is Keith, who helmed the Black Lion and directed the formation of Voltron. The sassy and sometimes sarcastic Lance pilots the Red Lion. The beautiful Princess Allura pilots the Blue Lion. The tough guy of the pack is Hunk, ho pilots the Yellow Lion, and finally the Green Lion is piloted by Pidge, the remarkably agile geek of the pack. When the lions combine, they form the massive sword-wielding robot Voltron. More om this at a later date.

08.04.07 - There is a great new period film coming on March 07 2008. It is entitled 10, 000 and is a Warner Bros. film. As the title implies it is set in the year 10, 000 BC., and from the sneak preview, it will be as exciting as Mel Gibson's Apocalypse.

The story is an epic tale centers on three stages of primitive man’s development, as seen through the eyes a 21-year-old hunter from a primitive tribe who must hunt mammoth to survive.

The movie's cast includes  Steven Strait, Camilla Belle, Omar Sharif, Marco Khanlian, and Cliff Curtis.

                                

                                

08.04.07 - Treasure hunter Ben Gates, played by actor Nicolas Cage, is back with a new adventure, National Treasure: Book of Secrets. This time Gates is on a journey find the truth about the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, which is contained in 18 missing pages of the diary of assassin, John Wilkes.

Cast: Nicolas Cage as Ben Gates, Helen Mirren as Emily Appleton, Jon Voight as Patrick Gates, Diane Kruger as Abigail Chase, and Harvey Keitel as Sadusky. Release date: 12.21.07. Click collage to see wallpaper.

08.04.07 The movie The Punisher, starring actor Ray Stevenson will begin filming this October in Montreal, Canada.The movie's character is based on a  popular MarvelComics series, and is the ficional story of ex- Marine and former FBI agent Frank Castle, who arrives in New York to take on a underworld boss who plots to take control of the underworld. The Punisher is a long time cult film classic.
 
08.11.07 - Marvel Studios is letting Matthew Vaughn direct Thor, based on the
Marvel Comics character. More on this as it develops.

07.28.07 - After 18 years, he’s back! That’s right!the big screen this coming Memorial Day (Monday, May 22, 2008), but to date this newest addition to the Indy chronicles is simply entitle “Indiana Jones”. Whether the movie will be based on one character’s popular video games is unknown at this time. However, a totally fresh adventure would be an absolute delight to all Indy’s fans. The film stars are Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones, Karen Allen as Marion Ravenwood, Shia LaBeouf as Indy sidekick, Ray Winstone also as Indy sidekick, Jim Broadbent as Yale Professor, as well as

07.28.07 - Who in the last 50 years has not read at least one ofbooks? How many of us have said “What?!” to Dr. Seuss’ unique language before we understood it. I would image million of children around the world  Now for our enjoyment 20th Century Fox Animation and the makers of the 'Ice Age' are in the process of filming the animation adaptation Dr. Seuss’ 1957 book, Horton Hears A Who!

The film is about loveable elephant who is thought by his peers to have lost his mind after he hears and discovers the microscopic world in the jungle. This CG animated feature film will open on March 14, 2008.

08.01.07 As an entertainer veil that is both bewitching and beguiling, yet she walks with a grace that conveys a haunting trace of lost innocence. On screen, she can be the ultimate femme fatale and a sensuous mystery that can appeal to our senses and scare us witless all at the same time.

In the movie new role as Lamia the evil witch in the far and distant Faerie realm. To
remain young she steals the youth of innocent young women and is now seeking the luminous Yvaine. However, before Lamia can do this, she must defeat Tristan; a young man who has promises his beloved, Victoria,  that as proof of his love he would retrieve a genuine fallen star by traveling into the fantastical and forbidden realm of Stormhold, which lies just beyond the safety of the their little English village of Wall. Yet, before Tristran can retrieve the falling star for his true love, he must first battle with pirates, evil trees, treacherous princes, witches and his climactic battle with the evil witch queen.

STARDUST’S cast includes Charlie Cox as Tristan, Claire Danes as Yvaine, Jason Flemyng as Primus, and Ricky Gervais as Ferdy the Fence, Robert De opens in theater on August 10, 2007.

Stardust, Rome and the Flash

This weekend there will be some exciting things happening at the box office and at home on the small screen. On Friday and at the theater Stardust will open across the nation. The film is based on a book with the same title by author, Neil Gaiman. Then there are two along awaited favorites. For those you who missed the second season of ROME, starting Monday, August 13, 2007, at 9 PM HBO do an encore of the series finale season. To see the schedule, click the first link. However, before ROME, on the SCI-FI Channel this Friday at 9 PM Flash Gordon will air. Although a remake of an old classic, the SCI-FI Channel has given the series a 21ST Century face-lift.

'Punisher' gets Lionsgate overhaul October start date set for new franchise

Lionsgate is overhauling "The Punisher," setting an October start date for a new franchise that will be built on the broad shoulders of "Rome" star Ray Stevenson.

Director Lexi Alexander, the German-born former world kickboxing champ who directed "Hooligans," will helm the film, which will aim for an R rating.

Nick Santora, Kurt Sutter, Matt Holloway and Art Marcum wrote the script. Gale Anne Hurd and Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige are producing with Ari Arad. MHF Zweite Academy Film is financing.

Stevenson was first seen in Hollywood alongside Clive Owen in the Antoine Fuqua-directed "King Arthur," but he's known for playing the Roman soldier Titus Pullo in the HBO series.

"Ray was the first name I wrote down after I saw 'Rome,' because he managed to keep the audience caring about him despite being the most violent guy," said Feige.

New project will mark the third screen incarnation for "The Punisher," which originated in a comicbook about Frank Castle, a Marine-turned-vigilante who is driven by a desire to avenge the murder of his family after they witness a ganglandkilling.

Property was turned into a 1989 film that starred Dolph Lundgren and then into a 2004 pic that starred Thomas Jane.

New film will be set in New York, where Castle runs up against a mobster.

Pic will be exec produced by Oliver Hengst, Bill Johnson, Mike Paseornek and John Sacchi. Ernst-August Schneider and Wolfgang Shamberg are associate producers.

Lucy Lawless and Battlestar Galactica

with an update on Lucy Lawless' status on Battlestar Galactica.

07.22.07 – Great news for all agreed to revive her role as D’Anna, the cylon, in the final season of Battlestar Galactica (season 4). I hesitant to call D’Anna  “the evil cylon” because when she was shut down by her comrades she was in the rebirthing chamber and she appeared to be having a crisis of the heart or an enlightenment , which might mean she was turning for the good.  However, with more than one copy of her running around during her last weeks, it is easy to say that her proto-type was confused, which her appeared flawed. Being the Xenite that I am, I would like to see Lucy’s character go out as a good guy; we all know she is so good at being baaad. Furthermore, “Razors” (think battles as in 300) is suppose to tie-up all loose ends from the first three seasons and provides good clues to the final season.

Below are entries for the return dates on some the the best sci-fi on television this fall.

                                 

Smallville will return on September 27, 2007 with one exciting character, Kara, or as she is commonly known among superheroes, Supergirl. Kara is Clark 19 year old cousin, and it is said that she will be a handful Clark (Tom Welling) to care for this season. Back in May, that DC Comic gave the okay for the introduction of Supergirl as a regular character on Smallville, and after 100s actresses auditions for the part of this héros de femme Canadian borne actress Laura Vandervort got the role.

Supernatural, starring Jensen Ackles as Dean and Jared Padalecki as Sam, will be returning with two new and dangerous female characters, who will do doubt impeded the Winchester boys in their quest to destroy the demons that escaped from hell’s gates in back last season.

Heroes will be returning earlier than expected. It new season premiere date is September 24, 2007. We will find that Hiro is still the middle of a battlefield in 1671 Japan, and will meet his idol Kensei and some new characters character in modern time as well. There is also a spin-off of the show in the works for 2008.
