News from Sarasota Opera - The Hobbit

Hello Everyone,

Evelyn here,

It has been a while, however, below is news of an exciting event coming to the Sarasota Opera House May 9th & 10th.

Sarasota Opera 2007-08 Season
Sarasota Youth Opera presents the U.S. premiere of The Hobbit

After an exciting year during which they toured Italy, the Sarasota Youth Opera returns to present the U.S. premiere of The Hobbit on May 9 at 7:30 p.m. and May 10 at 1:30 p.m. at the Sarasota Opera House. The prequel to The Lord of the Rings, the opera recounts how the comfort-loving Bilbo Baggins, unwillingly dragged into a heroic quest, accidentally acquires the golden ring of power. Opera Now magazine praised Canadian composer Dean Burry for his "rhythmically vital and melodic music."

The Youth Opera members will be conducted by Sarasota Youth Opera Music Director Lance Inouye, with staging by Martha Collins, sets by Jeffrey W. Dean, and costumes by B.G. Fitzgerald.

Don't miss this landmark production. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students, and $50 for a Family Pack for 2 adults and up to 4 students. Call the box office at (941) 366-8450, ext. 1 or buy online at http://www.sarasotaopera.org.
