The CW went
way back in the past for Riverdale,
their newest fall series that is based on the Archie Comics. The first of the Archie Comics originally made its debut on
December 22, 1941 in Pep Comics with the characters of Archie, Jughead, Betty,
Veronica, Reggie, Kevin Keller, Josie, the Pussycats, and Sabrina the Teenage
Witch. While attempting to understand and grow within their personal relationships,
as a team the main characters investigated crimes from the unexplained, horror,
sci-fi, and mystery.
The cast of Riverdale includes:
- K.J. Apa as
Archie Andrews - "An
intense, conflicted teen, a boyish high school sophomore who got pumped
up over the summer working construction and is now juggling the interest
of several girls, as well as trying to balance his passion for writing
and performing music — against the wishes of his father and his football
coach." Apa was cast in the role on February 24, 2016 after a
four-month worldwide talent search. - Cole
Sprouse as Jughead Jones - "A
philosophically bent heartthrob who was once the best friend of Archie,
who is still dealing with the rift that came between them." Sprouse
was cast in the role on February 9, 2016. - Camila
Mendes as Veronica Lodge - "An
intelligent, confident, silver-tongued high school sophomore. Veronica
returns to Riverdale from New York, eager to reinvent herself after a
scandal involving her father." Mendes was cast in the role on
February 26, 2016. - Lili
Reinhart as Betty Cooper - "A
sweet, smart, eager-to-please and wholesome girl with a long time crush
on her best friend, Archie. She is tired of being the perfect daughter,
student, sister, etc., so she turns to her new friend, Veronica, for life
advice — much to the consternation of her emotionally brittle
mother." Reinhart was cast in the role on February 9, 2016. - Madelaine
Petsch as Cheryl Blossom - "A
rich, entitled, and manipulative girl who recently lost her twin brother
in a mysterious accident." Petsch was cast in the role on February
24, 2016. - Olivia Ryan
Stern as Tina Patel - "The
super-smart little sister of Archie Comics character Raj Patel, Tina has
been described as an Indian Veronica. Tina is one of Queen Bee Cheryl
Blossom's best friends (along with Ginger Lopez)." Olivia was cast
in the role on March 16, 2016. - Ashleigh
Murray as Josie McCoy - “A
gorgeous, snooty, and ambitious girl who is the lead singer for the
popular band Josie and the Pussycats." Murray was cast in the role
on February 24, 2016. - Luke Perry
as Fred Andrews - "Archie’s
father, who owns a construction firm that he hopes his son will take over
one day." Perry was cast on February 24, 2016. - Marisol Nichols as Hermione
Lodge - "Veronica’s
mother." Nichols was cast in the role on March 3, 2016. - Mädchen Amick as Alice
Cooper - "Betty’s
mother, who is the editor of the local paper. She is a perfectionist who
places exceedingly high expectations on her daughter." Amick was
cast in the role on March 4, 2016. - Ross Butler as Reggie
Mantle - "Archie's
long-time nemesis & town prankster." Butler was cast on March 9,
2016. - Cody Kearsley as Moose
Mason - "Archie's
jock friend." Kearsley was cast on March 9, 2016. - Daniel Yang as Dilton
Doiley - "The
smartest kid in town." Yang was cast on March 9, 2016 - Irie Hayleau as Valerie
Brown - "The
songwriter, bassist, and backup vocalist for the popular band Josie and
the Pussycats." Hayleau was cast on March 9, 2016 - Ashanti Bromfield as Melody
Valentine - "The
drummer for the popular band Josie and the Pussycats." Bromfield was
cast on March 9, 2016 - Casey Cott as Kevin
Keller - "A
popular high school student who's openly gay." Cott was the last
major cast member to be cast on March 12, 2016. - Sarah Habel as Ms.
Grundy - Riverdale
High's young music teacher who had a forbidden relationship with Archie. - Shannon Purser as Ethel
Muggs - Ethel who
has a major crush on Jughead in the comics, but on Riverdale, Ethel will
find herself in a romantic relationship with someone very different and will
also be drawn into a friendship with Veronica and Betty after they team
up for a revenge plot on Archie’s rival, Reggie. - Robin Givens as Sierra
McCoy - Mayor of
Riverdale and mother of Josie McCoy.

Frequency
is another of the CW new shows airing this fall. It is based on the 2000 film of
the same name. in the series NYPD Detective Raimy Sullivan discovers that she
is able to speak to her deceased father Frank Sullivan in 1996 via his old fashioned
ham radio. However, in her attempt to save his life she triggers a "butterfly
effect", which changes the present and
her relationships in 2016. To correct time, she must work with her father via
the ham radio to solve a decades-old murder case.
