DramaFever is Gone, But Asian Drama Isn't

If you are as upset as I am about the DramaFever shutdown, but still want to watch Kdrama, Cdramaa, Tdtrana, and Jdrama on your TVs and streaming devices (Apps), try Viki, Asian Crush, and Netflix. Amazon Prime also streams some Asian entertainment; however, you might have to pay for each episode in a series and separate fee to stream the movies. Netflix also stream some Asian fair with some original series and films, which is included in your monthly fee. However, with Viki and Asian Crush there is the standard choice of a monthly or annual fee, and in most cases you can stream onto your hearts delights.

Like any good shopping deal, search wide and look deep into what you're buying. However, for the most concentrated asian dramas, Viki and Asian Crush are you best deal. They might even get licensed to stream the series and films you didn't get to finish watching at DramaFever :( some time is the future. In addition, with Viki and Asian Crush you are most likely to get new Asian entertainment the day after it air in their respective countries.

Dramafever is No More!

Imagine my surprise this evening to go the one of my favorite asian streaming sites and learn that it has shut down. That right DramaFever, which was one of the best, if not the best, asian streaming sites that brought you new and vintage asian series, movies, music from several countries that included Korea, China, Japan Hong Kong, Spain, and Portugal has shut its door dues to the raising costs for licensing streaming media for international viewing. Couple that with the fact that streaming sites like Netflix and Amazon have been offering more asian entertainment.

It is reported that due the shut some 110 people have been laid off.

Here is the message posted on what remains of their website.

=====

Thank you for nine great years

As of October 16, DramaFever has been shut down.

For nine years, DramaFever offered a place for streaming the best Korean, Chinese and Japanese dramas on-demand, straight to your device. We appreciate the passion of our fans and it’s been a privilege to deliver you this content.

While this decision is difficult, there are a variety of business reasons that have led to this conclusion. We appreciate each and every one of our fans and their passion for the content DramaFever was able to bring into your lives.

We'd like to take this time to extend our thanks and gratitude to you, our loyal subscribers. We'll be issuing refunds as applicable, and subscribers will receive an email from us with details in the coming days.

Sincerely,

The DramaFever Team

======

DramaFever brought us Westerners some fine programs and introduced us to ome asian entertainers. We, USA, fans can only hope that some miracle will present itself and that it will allow

for DramaFever return.

The Umbrella Academy on Netflix in 2019

The Umbrella Academy is based on a Dark Horse comic-book created by Gerard Way
and  illustrated by Gabriel Bá. As an
Eisner award-winner for its exceptional comics and graphic novels, The Umbrella Academy achievement to an
adaption for a live action is no surprise. Following of success Netflix
original series Stranger Things, Marvel's Daredevil and Jessica Jones have been
garnering, The Umbrella Academy theme of a misfit family unlikely superheroes
appears to single another possible hit for young and old viewers alike.

Here
is the synopsis of The Umbrella Academy from Netflix .

On
the same day in 1989, forty-three infants are inexplicably born to random,
unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven are
adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreaves, a billionaire industrialist, who creates
The Umbrella Academy and prepares his "children" to save the world.
But not everything went according to plan. In their teenage years, the family
fractured and the team disbanded. Now, the six surviving thirty-something
members reunite upon the news of Hargreeve’s passing. Luther, Diego, Allison,
Klaus, Vanya and Number Five work together to solve a mystery surrounding their
father's death. But the estranged family once again begins to come apart due to
their divergent personalities and abilities, not to mention the imminent threat
of a global apocalypse.

The Umbrella Academy cast includes Ellen
Page, Tom Hopper, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, David Castañeda, Aidan
Gallagher, Cameron Britton, and Mary J. Blige.

The Umbrella Academy will begin streaming on
February 15, 2019 only on Netflix.

The Chemistry Of Supernatural

Yes,
chemistry. That is what makes the story of the Boys as well as the longevity of their series so good. What boys am
I referring to?  Jared Padalecki and
Jensen Ackles of course. Moreover, it refers to how we fondly know them the best
as Sam and Dean Winchester.

When
Sam and Dean made their first appearance in 2005 on the television series, Supernatural, I, like many of the series fans, knew it would be
an instant hit. A continuing story of two young men losing their parents to
evil forces and on occasions dying themselves to rid the world of those same
evil was and still strongly compelling.

Like
with Starsky and  Hutch, Riggs and Murtaugh,
Xena and Gabrielle,
sorry about the gender bending, but it must be stated
, there is an
easy charisma between Sam and Dean that transmits out onto the audience, which
endears them to us. On some level in the real world, we relate to them; their struggles,
their frustrations, their sorrows, and yes, their brief and bittersweet moments
of joy.

Jensen Ackles and
Jared Padaleck

For
these reasons it is easy to believe that the casting crew paired Jensen and
Jared for the roles of Dean and Sam. In life, both men share similar background,
which puts them at ease with each other, and that in turned transforms into
some great acting on Supernatural.

Misha Collins, Jared Padalecki, Jim Beaver,Jensen Ackles, and Mark Sheppard

However,
let's not forget their supporting cast members who have also made elements of
the series look and feel like more than weekly entertainment. Of them, there has
been many. The ones that stand out and blend well into the magic of
Supernatural are Jim Beaver who plays Bobby Singer, another hunter and friend
of the Boys' father. Mark Sheppard as
the self proclaimed king of hell, and finally, Misha Collins as the angel
Castiel, who has fallen more than once, yet manages to find the faith to be a
hero. All these characters help make Sam and Dean's jobs as hunters bearable and
worth the continuing fight.

This
Thursday on the CW Supernatural will return
to what is a record making beginning of the series 14th season. While there are
no plans for a spin-off, the production company of Supernatural has assured its fans that Sam and Dean will be rolling
up and down the highways in "Baby"
fighting evil wherever they may find it for some time to come.

Jensen Ackles as Dean Winchester, the Wayward Son

Great job,
"Boys".

P.
S. I am sure this small display of fan endearment is permissible from an old
granny such as I.
