FROM DEATH COMES LIFE, A REVIEW OF AMC’S THE WALKING DEAD

FROM DEATH COMES LIFE, A REVIEW OF AMC’S THE WALKING DEAD

I am sure that fans of AMC’s series The Walking Dead were
just ass surprise at the death of T-Bone and Lori and I was. T-Bone a long time
character of the series had started a minor one who evolved into a superhero at
the time of his death when he sacrificed himself to save his friend Carol. Yet,
did he? Yes, T-Bone is gone forever but what of Carol’s fate? She was last seen
escaping the zombie filled corridor after one last reluctant look at her
savior. However, no one has seen her since. What is her true fate?

Moreover, the death of Lori was unexpected. Sure, I thought
she would deliverer her child, but I did not think that she too would be a
sacrifice. That she died during the delivery in which the infant was cut from
her womb was not surprising because there was no way to close her wound or stop
her massive blood loss.

Despite the death of these two long time character, the most
heart breaking moment was when  Carl has
to put the bullet in his mother’s head
so that she would not returned as a zombie. The somber and blank look in
the young boy (who had no other choice but to leave childhood things behind and
take a role as a man) gave an unhappy glimpse into what a real live threatening
toll surviving is a very danger world would be for even the children. This
train of thought is punctuated with Rick’s utter breakdown after searched
Carl’s for the truth to Lori’s death. In that moment of confirmation, Rick
understood very painfully that he had not only lost his wife but that his son
was forever changed.

So, what does the future hold for Rick and his
ever-diminishing band of survivors? And what of the infant? How will it fare in
a world more suited for death than raising new life?
