Marvel’s Agent Carter, Season Two . . . A Strong Possibility

Hayley Atwell

Many fans are under the mistaken belief that Marvel’s Agent Carter is just a winter fill in series. However, this is not true, and the good news is that there is a possibility that Marvel’s Agent Carter will return next year for a second season. When this news might become official is unknown at this time. However, Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas, two of the series executive producers, have stated that Agent Carter was never intended to be a miniseries. A second season would be very welcome news to all the fans of the series and that of Hayley Atwell, who plays Agent Peggy Carter.

James D'Arcy
As for her growing popularity as Agent Carter, Atwell has lit up the screen with her no nonsense investigation skills and her kick-ass battles, which is something not seen on the small screen since the ending of such series as Xena, Warrior Princes, Buffy the Vampire Killer, and Alias. No doubt many fans of these former series have fallen under a similar enchantment with Marvel’s Agent Carter as they did with these past series.

Marvel’s Agent Carter is about Peggy Carter, who was once very active as a spy during the portion of War World II that involved the Red Skull, Hydra, and Captain America. Yet, she is now sanctioned to desk work now that the war is over. Understandably, her new status is hard for her to accept. However, all this changes when evil forces set about to destroy inventor playboy Howard Stark by stealing and using his most deadly weapon against world peace.  With the help of Stark's butler, Edwin Jarvis (James D'Arcy), Carter sets out to find those responsible and dispose of Stark’s weapons.
Dominic Cooper

For the first time ever, Jarvis has made a live appearance on screen, and considering that the setting of the series is 1946, it is fitting the he comes to us as a young man. Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) has unalienable confidence in Carter’s and Jarvis’s abilities to clear his name. In addition, as the father of Tony Stark, it is clear where his young son gets his genius and his mega- egotistical personality.

Other characters in the series are:

  • Enver Gjokaj

Agent Daniel Sousa played by Enver Gjokaj, who is most likely the man Carter marries after she accepts that Captain America was not returning.

  • Agent Jack Thompson played by Chad Michael Murray. Thompson treats Carter more as a secretary than a true agent. Privately, he probably believes that as a woman, she belongs at home with a infant on one hip and balancing a basket of clean laundry on the other.

  •  Chief Roger Dooley played by Shea Whigham. Chief Dooley is a working bureaucrat wanting to run his department as efficiently as possible, but sometimes in her efforts to save Stark or Jarvis, Carter may hinder Dooley’s progress.
