The X-Files Reboot Short but Welcome, Plus More New Fox’s Series

Heads up, X-Files fans!

If you are expecting the reboot of your favorite’s series to
be a 20 - 22 episode return, forget it. Back in March when veteran X-Files star
Gillian Anderson announced her return to the series and the revisal of her role
as Dana Scully, it was also announced that the reboot would only be for six
episodes.

So is this short reprisal of The X-Files a cautionary decision by
FOX to see if a reboot of the once popular series can pull a lasting audience? Or,
will it go the way of the defunct reboot series of 24: Live Another Day?  Moreover, could this reboot of The X-Files be
just a 2016 winter a treat to a new chapter for devoted fans?

Whatever the reason for so few episodes, loyal X-Files’ fans
are waiting patiently for this new

mission of discovery in the X-Files saga.

Additional actors returning to the
series are Mitch Pilegg as Walter Skinner, and of course David Duchovny as Fox
Mulder.  There are rumors of Robert
Patrick returning as Agent John Doggett and Annabeth Gish as Agent Monica
Reyes, but nothing is confirmed.

Series summary: The X-Files
originally premiered in September 1993.
Over the course of its nine-season run, the influential series went from
breakout sci-fi favorite to massive global hit, and became one of the most
successful television dramas of all time. The show, which earned 16 Emmy
Awards, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award, follows FBI special agents
Scully (Anderson) and Mulder (Duchovny) as they investigate unexplained cases –
“X-Files” – for which the only answers involve paranormal phenomena.

The X-Files is set to premiere on
January 24, 2016 on FOX!

Incidentally, there are rumors of a 2016 reboot of 24
without its lead character Jack Bauer.
