The Way I See It! Series Premiere Dates: Van Helsing, Time After Time, Lethal Weapon, and More

Below is a link to a listing of the most current renewed series and new series premiere dates. From the point of view of "The Way I see It", there are some interesting and entertaining television and streaming programs premiering and returning this 2016- 2017 viewing year.

For instance, in recent years the Syfy Channel has been big on series that have featured women as lead characters. It is a formula the has proven successful with series such as Lost Girl, Haven, Continuum, Bitten,  and this spring debut of Wynonna Earp, a series which is about an heir of Wyatt Earp, who is cursed with the task on returning demons to hell with the help of his gun.

Following this trend the Syfy Channel is also adding the series Van Helsing.  As you may have guessed this series too is about a female heir of a well-known person. Although Abraham Van Helsing is a fictional character from Bram Stoker's classic novel Dracula, enough  interest in the character has spawned many films, miniseries and novels based on him within the last century alone. So why not a daughter named Vanessa Helsing, who is carrying on the Helsing tradition as a vampire hunter.

For viewers that are into high energy and action pack entertainment, Fox is bringing a series adaptation of the hit 1980s film "Lethal Weapon" to television.  The series starring cast is Damon Wayans Sr. as Detective Roger Murtaugh and Clayne Crawford as Martin Riggs. Then we have another iconic classic piece fitted for television and that is "Time After Time", which is also based on a novel of the same name by Karl Alexander and H.G. Wells' story The Time Machine. "Time After Time" was first brought to film by director Nicholas Meyer in 1979 and starred  Malcolm McDowell and David Warner.  Now it comes  to television as a new Kevin Williamson's adaptation for ABC as a dramatic series involving the transport of the central characters to modern day Manhattan and the search for Jack The Ripper.

"Time After Time", stars Freddie Stroma as H.G. Wells, Josh Bowman as John Stevenson/Jack the Ripper, Genesis Rodriguez as Jane and Regina Taylor as Vanessa Anders.

Speaking of ABC, fans of Haley Atwell know that there will be no third season of Marvel's Agent Carter. Nevertheless, ABC has hired the British actress  as the lead star in their new series "Conviction".

According to the storyline, in "Conviction" Atwell will play a lawyer and former First Daughter named Hayes, who is about to accept a job offer from her sexy nemesis, NY District Attorney Wayne Wallis, to avoid jail time for cocaine possession and avoid hurting her mother’s Senate campaign.

These series are just a few of the interesting and undoubtedly watchable series to look forward to during this 2016 - 2017 viewing season.
