I don't know how many times I have added and then
removed Starz's new historical series 'The
White Princess' from my current Series List (look to the right). The series was first announced as a probable
sequel to 'The White Queen' in 2013, and like many historical series fans, I
waited patiently, until, all recent news
of 'The White Princess" disappeared from the web.
However, and now, to the delight of all of author Philippa
Gregory's fans, the British based miniseries is finally here. The White
Princess will Premiere April 16, 2017 on Starz.
The story begins after the Battle of Bosworth Field, where King Richard III
is killed and Henry Tudor is later crowned King Henry VIII of England in 1485.
In pairing Elizabeth of York, the daughter of the late King Edward IV, and conqueror
Henry Tudor in marriage, it was to the hope of the remaining nobles (York and
Lancaster a.k.a Tudor ), and the people of England that their marriage would
put an end to the War of the Roses, which has been raging for nearly thirty
years at the time of this miniseries. Historically, the wars among these two
powerful families continued until ending in sometime in 1487, which is the
focus period of Starz's miniseries 'The
White Princess.
Elizabeth of York marriage to Henry Tudor is not one based on love, it is a political
allegiance in which she must learn to live with and survive among her enemies. As she puts it, "I'm to be the spoils of
war". Watch what’s to come in The White Princess, which charts one of the
most bloody and tumultuous times in British history.
