If you have never seen the live stage production of RENT at your hometown theater, you are in for a treat. Because this Sunday, January 27, 2019, Fox will air a live production of the popular musical at 8:00-11:00 PM; ET live/PT tape-delayed.
Based on the work of Jonathan Larson RENT has had many adaptations since its first debut at New York Theatre Workshop in 1993. Some of the music in these adaptations was updated to suit the times, place and events of the according to the decade. and the adaptation this Sunday on Fox is different. It will be true to the original score.

RENT will be executive-produced by Marc Platt
(“Grease: Live,” “La La Land,” “Wicked”), Adam Siegel, Julie Larson, Al

The groundbreaking musical is a re-imagining of Puccini’s “La
Bohème,” set in New York City’s gritty East Village, which tells the
unforgettable story of seven artists struggling to follow their dreams
during a time of great social and political turmoil. Writer/composer
Jonathan Larson’s tour de force celebrates its 20th anniversary this
year, as it continues to offer an inspiring message of hope and
friendship.
“Rent” originally was produced in New York by New
York Theatre Workshop and on Broadway by Jeffrey Seller, Kevin McCollum,
Allan S. Gordon and New York Theatre Workshop.
