The upcoming AMC series Interview with the Vampire will premiere on October 2, 2022. It will include seven episodes.
However, unlike the main characters of Louis de Pointe du Lac and Lestat de Lioncourt from the novels the two men began their love-hate relationship together in 1791, but the series characters begin their relationship in 1910. Besides this, Louise and Claudia are both now Creole, acceptable changes given that many people in early days of Louisiana were so. Because their race was not mentioned in the novel, creative license has been applied. In addition, keep in mind that people of color at that time could own property and Creole children if openly recognized by their white fathers could obtain wealth and property. Another noticeable change is that Louis was 25 at the time he became a vampire in the novel, while in the series he is 30 years old.
True the series Interview with the Vampire is billed with a modern
twist on the original; however, we long time fans of the late Ann Rice and her novels,
can only hope that the above changes and those yet to be seen will enhanced and not dampened the old world flavor that was the early era of Louisiana.
