Heather Graham’s The Unspoken, A Delightful Read Experience

While enjoying my selective summer reading, I read The Unspoken, a book that is a part of the 'Krewe of Hunters Trilogy' written by Heather Graham. I found the book to be a refreshing blend of ancient history that meets up with modern day ghost hunters.

The story centers on the sinking of a late 19th century fictional cruise ship, the Jerry McGuen, during a violent winter storm on Lake Michigan just before it could make dock in the Chicago harbor. What makes the story highly entertaining is that among the cargo of the ship are Egyptian artifacts and the sarcophagus containing the mummy of Amun Mopat.

Anum Mopat is a fictional mummy loosely based on the real life Egyptian High Priest Imhotep, who lived during time of King Djoser in third dynasty, as well as the major character in the Universal Pictures blockbuster films' The Mummy (1932 and 1999).

However, questions begin to arise as instead of the hell bent mummy determined to enslave humanity, Anum Mopat proves to be a compassionate and even helpful persona in the Krewe, the supernatural investigators on the case of the murder of the discoverer of the Jerry McGuen. Yet, as the body count begins to mount, the members of the Krewe start to wonder if murders are the work result of greedy human beings seeking personal fame and fortune

A well-crafted novel, The Unspoken is a new twist on an old legend, which brings to life in a tightly woven way a story of romance that combines engaging characters, the histories of Ancient Egypt and the City of Chicago as well as that of modern day archaeology and paranormal investigation that is richly entertaining for all readers of high adventure.

Heather Graham’s The Unspoken is truly a story that delights the senses.

I am currently reading Let The Dead Sleep, another supernatural adventure by Heather Graham.
