Dan Simmons's The Terror to premiere in 2017 on AMC

The Terror is an new AMC Horror/drama produced in an
anthology form.  The story is about the
crew of a Royal Naval expedition searching for the Arctic's treacherous
Northwest Passage but instead discovers a monstrous predator out in the frigid
darkness, stalking their ship, snatching one seaman at a time or whole crews,
leaving bodies mangled horribly or missing forever.

The stars are Tobias Menzies (Outlander), Jared
Harris (The Crown), Ciaran Hinds (Rome), Edward Ashley (In the Heart of the Sea),
Paul Ready (Ripper Street) and  Adam
Nagaitis (Houdini and Doyle).

The Terror is based on  Dan Simmons best seller novel The
Terror, which is 

the fictionalized story of 
Captain Sir John Franklin's lost expedition of HMS Erebus and HMS Terror
to the Arctic in 1845–1848 to force the Northwest Passage.
