Actor Ji Chang-Wook

Ji Chang-Wook of South Korea is this month’s featured
actor.

I first became aware of Ji Chang-Wook when I watched him
play Kim Je-Ha in the tvN Network series, The K2.  In this series he played the broken but highly
skilled soldier of fortune, Kim Je-Ha, on the now closed Drama Fever streaming
service, and since then, I have kept up with and watched several of the TV
dramas and films that he starred in.

What makes Ji Chang-Wook an interesting actor is not only
his good looks but his superb talent and this almost natural ability to switch
character mode from one acting production to another and leave us his fans in
wonder of his skills at martial arts in action and intrigue, comedy, and
romance productions. However, I believe his greatest strength is in the fact
that he can play both the hero and the anti-hero very well.

Before beginning his military service in 2017, Ji Chang-Wook
starring roles included the following action productions that are binge worthy
today.

Five Ji Chang-Wook Action Roles

A little known film on this side of the Pacific, but a truly
entertaining gritty sci-fi.

The Story

In real life, Kwon Yoo (Ji Chang-Wook) is unemployed, but in
the virtual game world he is known as the best leader. While sleeping he is targeted
and framed for murder. With the help of hacker Yeo-Wool (Shim Eun-Kyung) and
the rest of his RESURRECTION teammates, Kwon Yoo tries to uncover the truth
behind the murder case.

Meanwhile, Ko An-Na (Yoona) is the secret daughter of the presidential hopeful.

Healer
(2014-2015) – Seo Jung-Hoo

The Story:

A decade-old incident involving a group of five friends who
ran an illegal pro-democracy broadcasting station during the Fifth Republic in
South Korea brings together three different people—an illegal "night
courier" with the codename "Healer" (Ji Chang-Wook) who
possesses top-notch fighting skills, a reporter from a second-rate tabloid news
website (Park Min-young), and a famous journalist at a major broadcast station
(Yoo Ji-tae). In trying to uncover the truth from that 1992 incident, they grow
into real, honest reporters, while dealing with the conflict between truth and
fate.

Empress Ki
(MBC / 2013-2014) - Ta Hwan / Emperor Huizong of Yuan

The Story:

This story is about the loves and battles of the historical
Empress Ki (Ha Ji-Won), who exercises her influence in the Yuan Dynasty. She is
married to the dangerously clinging Crown Prince Ta Hwan (Ji Chang-Wook) who as
time passes painfully grows into the hard won courageous Emperor Huizong.

Warrior
Baek Dong Soo
(2011) - Baek Dong-Soo

Wanting to save his own son from a charge of treason, Crown
Prince Sado betrays and beheads his closest liaison Baek Sa-Geong as a
scapegoat. He then orders Baek Sa-Goeng's family killed. However,  Kim Kwang-Taek, on prior request of his close
friend Baek Sa-Goeng, helps his dead friend wife and unborn child escape. While
on the run Baek Sa-Goeng's wife gives birth to a baby boy and dies after naming
the child Dong-Soo.

To save Dong-Soo, Kim Kwang-Taek loses an arm after pleading
for the child’s life. However, the lost of his arm was in vane because the
Crown Prince’s soldiers still attempt to kill the child. It is during the
struggle with the soldiers that the baby Dong-Soo disappears.

And with this bloody start the story of the Warrior Baek
Dong Soo begins.
