The Sacrifice: JR’s Ewing, Savior And Resurrectionist In A Garden Of Good And Evil

On the ending of season two of Dallas no expected that the finale
would end with the collapses of the Cliff Barnes' and Harris Ryland empires,
the wedding of John Ross to Pamela Barnes, and his and betrayal with Emma
Ryland, and  moreover, from beyond the
grave, JR’s confession of suicide to save the family. Nevertheless, all of these
events kept fans Dallas series watching. The series finale could not have ended
any better.

I admit to some misgivings about the future of Dallas when
the series returned to TNT after the death of one of the shows major stars,
Larry Hagman, who played JR Ewing. And although the producers of the series
stated that it would honor the memory of Hagman throughout season two of the
series, my doubts were not relieved.

Yet, after a slow beginning, it is clear that the tension
was mounting to solve the mystery of JR’s death and to put an end to the
conflict between the Barnes and Ewing families’. With some honest and even
shady dealings, the Ewing family was able to put all those who had wrong them
behind bars. However, several questions remain open.

Cliff is certainly guilty
of giving the order for the bombing that killed Pamela and Christopher’s twins.
However, will Cliff Barnes ever learn that JR was not murdered, but that
his death was an act of mercy as JR was dying of cancer and only has a few
days of life in him? So Cliff learns the truth what will he do?

  1. What new intrigues will a
brokenhearted and embittered Elena Ramos rain down on the Ewings now that
she has in her possession of deed to Southfork that shows that the Ewing
land and oil belong to her family? Is the second deed real? Or, is it just
another plant in Cliff Barnes plan to destroy the Ewings?

  2. Now that Pamela has
married John Ross, does Emma pose a big threat to the marriage?

  3. Although Cliff Barnes could
very well die in prison, will Harris Ryland ever see free again and regain
his riches and the power he held over Emma? Will is controlling influence
continue even from a prison cell to the outside world?

  4. Finally, given the series
low ratings this season, will TNT renew the series for future?

As to this last question, I certainly hope that Dallas will
return next year. The way in which series rapped up its old wounds really did
open the door for new intrigue involving the younger Ewing family members. However,
this time it is clear that new trouble will be coming for an unexpected source.
With that source being Elena Ramos and possibly her brother Drew but most definitely
members of the Mexican cartel, Ewing family will once again have be put the
dead to rest  by proving that their family
legacy  is their  by right. If not, then we know they will by croak.

Given these reasons and more, does
Dallas desiring a third season? I will let JR answer this one.

"Like my daddy alway's said,
where there's a way, there's a will."

Sleep well, JR Ewing. You did all you could to make things right.
