Luther, The Bbc Series Character Goes To The Movies; Almost Human Debut Next Sunday, The Syfy Original Series Explosion, And Bonnie Meets Clyde

American fans of British actor, Idris Elba and his famed character, Luther,  will be unhappy to learned the Luther not be returning to the television as Elba has turned his acting skills to the big screen. However, not all may be lost in that the creators of Luther are in the process of writing a film version of the internationally popular series, which is day to a prequel Luther. More on this later as news develops.

Fans of Idris Elba can see his in the role of Nelson Mandela in Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, a docudrama on the life of the fames South African leader anti-apartheid revolutionary leader and politician who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. The film will debut Friday, November 29, 2013 nationwide.

SERIES UPDATES:

Not since Terminator, the Series and certainly not since The X-Files has FOX’s sci-fi been so

exciting. Beginning Sunday, November 17 and continuing on Monday. November 18 at 8/7c, Fox’s newest science fiction crime thriller, Almost Human, debuts.  Starring in the series is international television and film star Karl Urban, who plays Detective John Kennex  a detective who has awaken from a long coma the discover that he has not only lost one of his legs, but he has not to be outfitted with a high tech authentic one. Moreover, to Kennex dissatisfaction he is ordered to work with an artificial life form, DORIAN, played by Michael (Brown) Ealy, who for a robotic has issues of his own.

Urban is best for his television roles in the Hercules, the Legendary Journeys and Xena the Warrior Princess series, and more recently, in the two Star Trex reboots, Star Trek  and Star

Trek Into Darkness as Dr. Leonard McCoy, fondly known as Bones. Among others credits, Michael Ealy are known for his characterization of Detective Sebastian in the blockbuster film, Underworld: Awakening, and as Ben Thomas in Seven Pounds.

Almost Human appears a welcome change to the Fox’s fall lineup of new series. Let look for it having a long television run.

The Syfy Channel has several new series debuting as early of December 4 and early into the 2014.

The first is the semi-reality series Killer Contact. Unlike many of the Syfy Channel’s previous ghost hunt series, this one might be of interest to viewers who like historical base series. Therefore, and for the historical fact intertwined into the series, Killer Contact could end up worth the watch. Killer Contact debuts December 4 at 10 on Syfy

The second Syfy Original series to debut is Helix. With a feel and look that reminds you of The Umbrella Corp in Resident Evil, Helix appears to be a hair raising sci-fi journey into the mysterious blend of biological and technological sciences. Aren’t you just a little unnerved by what might be peeking out of that air vent? Helix could be a winning replacement for either Sanctuary or Merlin. Helix debuts on January 10 at 10/9, on Syfy.

Finale, there is the werewolf series, Bitten features a female werewolf want turn her life around by escaping the human world and leaving the world of the werewolves as well as the male werewolf who bit her.  Elena Michaels played by Laura Vandervoort (Smallville’s Supergirl) becomes a lone wolf caught in the intrigues between two positing worlds.

The last known series based on a lone werewolf was back in 1988 and was entitled Werewolf. It was quite interesting for its limited television run that ended in 1989.

Perhaps, Bitten with its female werewolf will have a more long television present. To date Bitten has no concrete debut date, but is according to Syfy, Bitten will debut in 2014 and it based on the novel of the same name by author Kelly Armstrong.

Personally, Helix might last longer. However, as a sassy woman on screen is the craze Bitten just might surprise us.

Speaking of historical based series, A&E, along with the History Channel and Lifetime Network, is simulcasting the two-day, four-hour miniseries Bonnie and Clyde, which about two Depression day criminals, who like Al Capone, John Dillinger, and Bugsy Siegel have become two more of America’s anti-heroes within the pop culture.

 

Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild) and Holliday Grainger (The Borgias) play in the title roles of Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker whose criminal exploits gain them everlasting fame.

Bonnie and Clyde will debut Sunday, December 8, and conclude Monday, December 9, 2013 at 9/8c.
