Rurouni Kenshin, the Live-Action Film: Will There Be An English Version?

Well, I could not wait any longer. I recently bought Rurouni Kenshin, the live-action film based on the popular Japanese manga and its equally popular Japanese anime. Actor Takeru Satoh plays  Himura Kenshin, Munetaka Aoki plays  Sanosuke Sagara and Emi Takei plays  Kaoru. on the Japanese version of the film. I have waited a year for an English version but so far no luck. I have not watched the film yet. So stay tune for a future review.

Subbed in English the film is the first of the Rurouni Kenshin live-action films to be made. As of this writing, there are two films in the making and due for release in 2014. These are Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Taika-hen and Rurouni Kenshin: Densetsu no Saigo-hen. Takeru Satoh will return as Himura Kenshin in all of them.

If you don’t know Rurouni Kenshin (and what self-respecting anime and manga lovers do not) below is the plot summary from Anime News Network.

“Himura Kenshin is a vagabond with a dark past and sunny disposition. Not a ronin but a rurouni,
he was never a samurai, but an assassin of utmost skill in the Meiji restoration, who in the turning point of the war simply walked away. His travels lead him to Tokyo in the 11th year of the Meiji era, where he befriends a female Kendo master, a former thief, a brawler and a doctor all with their own secrets. Together they fight off the enemies surfacing from the dark past that Kenshin cannot escape.”

In the live-action, film Rurouni Kenshin following the adventures of Kenshin from both the manga and the anime. The film's screenplay was written by Kiyomi Fujii, Keishi Otom and was by directed by Keishi Ōtomo and  Osamu Kubota was its producer.

Remember to look for my follow-up review.

The below video is a fan made creation of what we could expect of a Harry Potter anime if there ever was one. It looks very professional and I am surprise that the producers of the Harry Potter live action films did not pickup on the idea.

The link below leads to a board with several interesting renditions of the characters of Harry Potter. The video and the articles are several years old, but still interesting.

Angeline Jolie is super scary as wicked fairy godmother, Maleficent. http://www.widescreenonlinereview.com/COMIC-REVIEWS.html
