Helix and Chicago PD: The Scary and The Wary

This weekend Helix the SYFY Channel latest originals series airs in episode one and two (Pilot/Vector), which total an hour and a half. If you have On-Demand, you also got to see episode (274). I must comment on and commend Reinhold Heil, the music the composer for Helix for taking an old familiar and normally non-threatening song and making it threatening. I do not think anyone who watches to series from this date will fail to associate Dionne Warwick’s San Jose with the horrors growing and running amok at a private biochemical research lab in the middle of the Arctic.

Helix is the scariest science fiction series on the air in decades. Something bad is happening below the surface of what the team CDC of scientists called in to investigate. They believe it is an outbreak of an unknown disease. However, the longer they stay in the research center, the less they learn and the more the pathogen mutates and spread.

It is also creepy that the head of the CDC team, Dr. Alan Farragut (Billy Campbell) is the brother of the pathogen’s host, and that the head of the private research center, Dr. Hiroshi Hatake (Hiroyuki Sanada), is more is of a willing Dr. Frankenstein with glowing eyes.

It is clear that Hatake motives is not the save his people but to let the pathogen full develop. Is Dr. Hatake even human? Is the pathogen biochemical or alien in nature?

Helix has started out as a strong must watch series, and may continue to be one of the most entertaining new series on TV this season.

Chicago PD is NBC newest police drama. It center on stories of cops and the good, the bad, and the ugly duties they perform to bring down the criminals in Chicago Police Department. One of the main officers of interest in the series is Sergeant Hank Voight (Jason Beghe). From the beginning, Voight looks like a dirty cop and “on the take ". However, is he really? What does he do with the money he takes from criminals? He saves a young inner city boy, so how far does his generosity extend.

Nevertheless, it is clear that Sergeant Hank Voight is really to cross line that no cop should cross to get his job done.

Chicago PD  is spin-off of Chicago Fire and air on Wednesdays nights at 10-9c. the series cast includes:  Jason Beghe as Sergeant Hank Voight, Sophia Bush as Detective Erin Lindsay, Patrick John Flueger as Officer Adam Ruzek, LaRoyce Hawkins as Officer Kevin Atwater, Archie Kao as Detective Sheldon Jin, Elias Koteas as Detective Alvin Olinsky, Jon Seda as Detective Antonio Dawson, Jesse Lee Soffer as Detective Jay Halstead, and Marina Squerciati as Officer Kim Burgess.
