The Mummy, or Ramses the Damned by Anne Rice – Possible Sequel

Millions upon millions of Anne Rice fans remember her 1989 historical-horror, ‘The Mummy, or Ramses the Damned’. It was one of her first novels to depart from her Vampire Chronicles.  The novel was a great success with its colorful characters of Julie Stratford, the daughter of the murdered archaeologist, Lawrence Stratford, and of the infamous Pharaoh Ramses II, the Mummy,  and of historical based events dating from the time of Ramses reigned of  1279–1213 BC to 1914 London.

Anne Rice’s story of The Mummy is one of high historical adventure, romance, and mystery that truly begins when Ramses is awaken by the touch of the sun on his living but mummified body in Julie's London home.

The story includes a villainous Cleopatra, who like another resurrected and out of time Anne Rice queen of ancient times, wants to make her unwanted rule over the world total.

This brief summary of the The Mummy, or Ramses the Damned  comes as a pre-introduction to Anne Rice possible sequel to the Mummy because of her recent Facebook post.  Many of the fans who responded to the post, which inquired as to how they felt about a new chapter in the Mummy story, were delighted at the prospect of learning what has been happening with their fav characters and what is now in store for the handsome charismatic Ramses, the winsome Julia, and the devilish Cleopatra since this first novel.

For now, and in anticipation of a sequel to The Mummy, or Ramses the Damned,  fans, new and old, of Anne Rice can enjoy re-reading the first novel in  preparation of a sequel that if it becomes a reality, will put an end to nearly a thirty year wait.
