The Water Horse: A New Sony Film

The “Nettie” legend takes on a new twist in this new Sony’s film “The Water Horse”, a story about a lonely boy growing up on the shores of a Scottish Loch. One morning while he is playing along the shore after a major storm a young Angus MacMorrow, played by Alex Etel, find an unusual object that turning out to be a magical egg. However, when the egg hatches, Angus discovers that he is in the possession of a rare and once in a lifetime find, a mystical creature to be known to the world as “the Loch’s Ness Monster,” but to the some of the islanders of the Loch, it is a “water horse”. According to local Scottish legend, The Water Horse”, it is said that there can only be one of the creature in the world at a time, and Angus is bent on raising his find is the family’s bathtub.

Angus with the help from his grandfather and his best friend, Kirstie, attempt to raise Kepie (the water horse) as a household pet. Yet, as the months pass by, it becomes all too apparent that the creatures will soon out grow the house and in turn become harder to hide from Angus' mother, Anne, played by Emily Watson. To protect it their put the creature in the Loch, but Captain Hamilton (David Morrissey) of the Royal British Navy encounters the rapidly growing water horse and then causes such a comic stir that brings in an influx of reporters and research scientists.

 

The film The Water Horse is based on a book of the same name by British author, Dick King-Smith, who is the same author of the popular Babe series.
